GIULIANO BETTINI *
Giuliano Bettini was born in Bologna, Italy, on March 5, 1943. He received the Laurea (Doctorate) degree in Electronic Engineering (cum laude) from the Politecnico di Torino, Italy, in 1967. Until September 1970 he served as an officer in the Italian Navy at the Mariteleradar Research Institute in Livorno. From 1970 to 1980 he was with Selenia Company in Rome, where he joined the Radar Division and the Radar and Missile Division. He was directly involved in the development of most of the major radar systems and he was the project leader of the Spada Missile Defence System. In 1980 he was awarded a National Prize (Innovazione Elettronica) for original contributions in the field of “orthogonal fast transforms of coded radar signals”. In 1981 he joined I.D.S. Ingegneria dei Sistemi Company in Pisa, Italy, where he was Radar Scientist and Technical Director. He was mainly involved in advanced studies on Radar Cross Section, Radar System Analysis and a project of a GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar). He was also Adjunct Professor at the University of Pisa, Adjunct Professor at Naval Academy, Leghorn (Italian Navy). At present his interests are painting, minerals, physics and Salsa, Merengue, Bachata.
